Over the years we have successfully fundraised to improve the lives of the residents who live here. In the past we have raised money for new beds, a memorial garden and most recently we raised enough money to buy and maintain our own WheelChair/accessible van.

 Recently our residents’ council has asked if our fundraising efforts could go towards updating our backyard space. It has come to our attention that many individuals in our community and their visiting family members, face challenges in accessing safe and enjoyable outdoor spaces, particularly in their own homes. As we all know, spending time outdoors has numerous physical and mental health benefits, especially for older adults. Therefore, we are spearheading a project to improve the backyard spaces to make them more accessible, comfortable, and enjoyable. The primary goals of this project are to:

1. Enhance accessibility: Install ramps, pathways, and handrails to ensure safe and easy movement within the backyard.

2. Create comfortable seating areas: Provide sturdy and comfortable seating options to encourage outdoor relaxation and socialization.

3. Beautify the space: Plant flowers, shrubs, and trees to create an inviting and serene environment.

4. Ensure safety: Implement necessary safety measures such as non-slip surfaces and adequate lighting to prevent accidents, especially during evenings.
