Annual Family BBQ
Saturday July 20th was our annual family BBQ and despite it being one of the hottest days of the summer so far, CAMA staff managed to create a cool atmosphere. This year we had a Luau theme complete Hula dancers and a margarita station. This event is one of our largest of the year with the activity and dietary department planning months in advance. It is so nice to see residents visiting with family and friends, enjoying being around their grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The activity department makes sure there are many activities for children, including face painting, a magician, a balloon artist and even pony rides! The food this year was on point for a family BBQ including chicken, corn on the cob, macaroni and cheese, coleslaw and cornbread – no one left hungry. One of the most memorable stations was the photo booth. Most residents have old pictures of past memories to look back at; sometimes we forget to document new memories. Residents now have fresh new pictures from our event with their family members or favourite staff members posted in their room. We especially want to thank the volunteers that help make the family BBQ happen. We would not be able to make this event such a success without them. Next year will mark CAMA’s 50th anniversary, we are already starting to plan for such a momentous occasion and we hope that everyone will join us again to celebrate family, our residents and 50 years of great care!
